Tesco Password Security

A tweet from a helpful but clueless Tesco employee has sparked a bit of a storm.

It seems as though although Tesco may be storing your password using a salt, they are “helpfully” able to send you the plain text of your password in an email.

Either Tesco are not really protecting the password with a salt, or they have implemented some kind of decrypting step. Either way this is a massive security fail!

Come on Tesco, we expect better of you in this day and age - given all of the other recent password breaches.
